You can see a nice band of clearing from northern TN to Louisville to Cincinnati. This additional sun will allows temps into the 70s again for today.
At 11:00 AM the temperature is up to 67. The record high for today is 77.
Ida does not look very impressive on the satellite view. The storm is now down to tropical storm status with top winds of 70 mph and will continue to weaken.
Hurricane warnings for the Gulf coast have been downgraded to Tropical Storm warnings.
Click on the map at the right to see Sunday's highs around the country. The warmth is pretty widespread.....certainly a lot different from October.
No big cooling this week. My original forecast of above normal temps for most of the first 3 weeks of the month may have to be extended into the fourth week.

I knew ida wouldnt be able to stand those turbulent winds aloft at least she wont be hurricane and also good thing its not affecting the lousiana and arkansas region.

Posting Live from The Villages, Florida (just south of Ocala). Here visiting the in-laws in a nice retirement community. A tightening pressure gradient has been making for a windy time of it. This city boasts some 26-27 golf courses. And guess what? My father-in-law did not shoot a very good round. Neither did anyone else. I was smart enough not to play. Not too much concern from the residents about the deteriorating Ida but looks to spoil a couple of vacation days for us. I'll post more if things get interesting here.
