Arctic sea ice thinned dramatically between the winters of 2004 and 2008, with thin seasonal ice replacing thick older ice as the dominant type for the first time on record. The new results, based on data from a NASA Earth-orbiting spacecraft, provide further evidence for the rapid, ongoing transformation of the Arctic's ice cover....this is a new report issued by NASA today.....click here
At 5:10 scattered showers are developing in Indiana from Vincennes to Jasper, moving SE. There is a slight chance (<20%) of rain through mid-evening

Hey John, I have been hearing rumors floating around the internet lately. That we could be getting a major solar storm. Im not sure how knowledgeable you are when it comes to space weather. But is it anything to be concerned about?
John...the sunspots this week are weakening and no major storm is expected. There have been some theories that the crop circles in England were predicting a major storm....JB

Yeah, I heard that to and i dismissed it. But then i stumbled across this website. http://www.gympietimes.com.au/story/2009/07/07/magnetic-storms-on-the-suns-surface-are-set-to-int/
It says the largest sunspot EVER was found today. I guess its either a joke website or they just got there facts messed up. Thanks for straightening this out.

I just uploaded a video of the moon and the International Space Station flyover last night. The station was certainly a lot brighter last night than I've seen it in previous flyovers!

Hello Mr. Belski! You are by far (and shh.. don't tell the others!) my favorite meteorologist! I heard the other night during a news telecast that you recently had back surgery! I hope it was nothing too serious, and will keep you in my thoughts for a speedy recovery!
