    Wednesday late evening 1/7

Anc  There is a new Chick-fil-A opening in the morning in St. Matthews. These cold folks are some of the 100 in line to be awarded a Chick-fil-A dinner a week for a year. People from as far as Florida have come for this. The president of the company is camping out with the others tonight. I wonder if they have some sort of bonfire or something to stay warm.

We did a live weather broadcast from the Chick-fil-A in Clarksville when they opened a couple of years ago.

    Dec

A quick burst of snow is coming through. That dark blue area may drop up to a half inch (or more) for Salem..Scottsburg..Madison..
    In KY: Bedford..Carrollton..
Already, a half inch in the Seymour area has fallen.

In the Louisville area the heaviest snow will be over the northern suburbs.

In Lexington, earlier in the evening there was a thundersnow shower with a hevy burst of snow.

We heard from a number of counties outside of Louisville where roads became slick and there were some accidents.

    .
Feb In Boulder, Colorado, high winds this afternoon knocked down a transmission line which set several fires. This resulted in a request for 11,000 homes to be alerted about the fire at one point. Things are quieting down this evening with lighter winds. Most of the people have been allowed to return to their homes. For more details....click  here

Let's face it folks--it's time for spring, 80 degrees, and chasing severe storms. Who needs 5-10 degrees??? I'm ready to open the windows and let them warm southerly breezes blow! John, can you order up some lows in the 60s??? :)

    Todd

LOL...NO WAY would I sit out all night in this weather for a years' worth of weekly combo's from a fast food chicken joint...now, dinners @ "Outback" or weekly Prime Rib..or a new car/truck/SUV...altogether different!!:)

hang in there people.. that is why the GFS and all of these LR cast are not that reliable IMO. GFS has been showing consistency..so that is one reason why the arctic outbreak is being touted so highly. in a way this tweaking of the models during the 12Z gives me hope that some sort of storm is going to develop out of the southwest while the trough digs south next week. we are pretty sure there is a clipper coming so if we can get some phasing with the southern stream we may be cookin with gas in the east. and i am the first one that is not buying in to a blowtorch for jan or feb. maybe a brief warm-up but nothing major..

Another sign of spring--Saw a robin today at my house. Fat as could be!!!! She wouldn't even budge as I moved closer to her for a look, she must have had eggs in her. They always say that the first robin means spring, is this true, do they really migrate or just go into dormancy?

Alex....robins just stay hidden. They will sometimes come out in groups to eat but they do not migrate....JB

I'm excited 4 snow and cold next week. We have two system next week I'm projecting right now. Clipper storm Monday night bringing 2-4" Monday night and maybe an additional 1-3" of snow Tuesday am. A bigger clipper storm Wednesday night- Thursday bringing 3-6" but if we get a southern stream to phase with the northern stream then it will turn out to be a beast of a winter storm. I don't see that yet so I'm going with 3-6" with a clipper storm next Wednesday night-Thursday time period. Chief stormtracker Marcus Barnes

    Marcus,

    whats up with your information?

    John

    do you agree?

At least it will be cold

This should happen out of this pattern. We will see a NW flow pattern develop next week. This is common sense. The cold is coming. Look at NW Canada. I look at the weather, I studied the weather before looking at the models then I take the models into account if it makes sense to the pattern. I don't worshipped the models like alot of people do. That easy to do. I just tell folks what should happen or believe should happen. It doesn't means it will actually happen all the time vickie and everyone else. That's my style of forecasting.

We can only hope you are right Marcus. I don't know if I subscribe to your method of forecasting but what the hell I'm pulling for your cast to be right and hope you are underestimating the precip. If you got a chance to see my winter forecast back in early December I thought that our best chances would be for a carved out trough in the East with a -nao with the waves coming out of the SW and not so much associated with the front(s) (clippers, Saskatchewan Screamers) . Cold in place with SW moisture gives us a shot at a good storm in my opinion. Any time we have the waves coming from the 4 corners with entrenched cold we have a shot at a M.O.V.E.

Rake...I assume M.O.V.E. means Major Ohio Valley Event.....JB

    JB

We all like when you post NWS Lousiville, Paducah, Jackson, KY etc discussions for upcoming systems...can you do that each day on each post? I dont know where to go to find it and having it on your site makes it very easy...go ahead and post the entire discussion if you have room to. Id like to know their thoughts on the clipper and next week.

Yes a MOVE is my acronym for a Major Ohio Valley Event. Kinda cute isn't it? Feel free to use it as part of your defining meteorological nomenclature!
    RM

Rain..err i mean Rake lol...yes Im the one who kept calling you Rain in he chat...I LOVE IT!!! now if ONLY we could get one of those MOVEs in here...we could use it!!
