Monday late afternoon 1/12
A Winter Weather ADVISORY is in effect from 4:00 AM until 1:00 PM.
There will be a few sprinkles this evening. Very late tonight as a front moves through, rain showers will change to a period of snow. The temps at the surface and aloft will cool rapidly allowing for a quick change to snow. The NAM puts out over .10" precip.
Look for overnight accumulations of under 1/2 inch and then one inch or less Tuesday morning as the period of snow ends but we do get a few more snow showers during the morning. With the falling temps, any initial melting will freeze so look for some icy roads meaning school delays in some areas.
For Chicago it is a Blizzard WARNING for tonight. They are expecting 2 to 5 inches of snow with winds to 40 mph later tonight. I have driven interstate 39, the north-south interstate west of Chicago that goes from Rockford to Bloomington, IL. There are very few trees and the ground is gently rolling so it is a very windy location. In fact, there is a giant wind farm along the interstate that stretches for about 10 miles.

I went up to Chicago in early December to watch the Bears vs Saints game and I didn't get any snowfall while I was up there, I was disappointed but Chicago is a nice city just missed the snow as usual.

Watch a trend in the storm track with Wednesday's late day clipper storm. No warmth to flood up here. Clouds increase quickly and storm track south it looks to me. We won't know to the last minute. Let's hope for 5-6" of snow Wednesday Late. I'm not giving up. Marcus Barnes

how will the school districts make their decision tomorrow morning if the snow will not start untill after 6 AM? I am in the JCPS school district and was wondering your thoughts
Shane....JCPS will monitor the situation overnight and it if looks like roads will be slick for a while but improving later in the morning, then may go with a delay. They can wait until as late as 4:00 AM to decide.....JB

I think everyone should think NO SNOW and trick it into dumping snow on us. I mean what have we got to lose...getting excited about it doesnt work. Wish it away and it will come ;-)

It has Louisville with 3-4" by SAT with Seymour getting 6" thru SAT and thats only 50 miles north. That got me a little excited that maybe all the potential for snow isn't gone just yet.
Aaron...thanks...I dont' see it happening at this time but a shift in system 2 could make it happen....JB

As of today everyone I have seen has said the WED Low will go across the I-80 corridor area giving Louisville little if any snowfall and I heard the Friday storm is nothing as of now. It all sounds very bad for are snow chances :(

John-what sort of road conditions can we expect in the morning in Hardin county?
Hardin CO. is in the advisory......falling temps with a burst of snow will produce some icy conditions....JB

anyone who reads this, if you want snow, listen to three doors down "away from the sun" album before the snow gets here, then nickelback "the long road" during the snow itself. i did both of those things in regard to the 2004 snowstorm when i was in 7th grade, and for some reason i just now thought that i might try it again. perhaps the more people that do it, the better. haha.

Good old Marcus he has got to be the most optimistic person when it comes to snow I have seen. Gotta love his attitude. lol
