Derby photos
Most of my time was spent near the paddock so most of the photos are of Derby hats. I did get to the infield briefly but my camera batteries went out and Churchill Downs doesn't sell batteries. They want you to buy those little disposable cameras. Click on any photo for a larger view.

One of the few stars to come to the Paddock was Fred Willard (walking away from me)
Fred is currently on "Back To You" with Kelsey Grammar and Patricia Heaton.

This guy is covered in mud. There was about a 200 foot diameter mud puddle in the infield that drew a big crowd all day.

Kevin and I watched the race from the compound in the infield right at the finish line. You really don't know who is in the lead until they come right up to the line. What a crowd...157,000.
What a day.... high of 75.
We did have a brief sprinkle in the afternoon but generally the weather was beautiful after the sun came out at 11:00 AM. A cold front moved through around 4:30 and by Derby time the winds were gusting to 35 mph. By 7:00 the temperature had dropped to 60 degrees.

Oh John Belski, nice duds on Derby day. I love the monochromatic green shirt and tie!
